COOPER’S BEST FLOUR

Established in 1879, Cooper’s Best Flour originated in Humboldt, Nebraska under the name O.A. Cooper Company. It was one of the first mills in Nebraska. By 1918, O.A. Cooper Company had attained corporate status. The company continued to grow until 1960, when a feed mill was constructed in Cozad, Nebraska.

O.A. Cooper Company included the following as part of its operations: grain storage, feed and flour milling. By the late 1970s, the O.A. Cooper Company employed approximately 200 people and distributed its products throughout a ten-state area including Nebraska, Texas and South Dakota.

In 1980, the company was renamed Humboldt Grain & Flour by Wayne Burow after a takeover bid by Central Soya Company (ADM). Wayne introduced pancake flour, biscuit mix, breading mix and all-purpose flour.

After Wayne’s retirement in 2010, Eric & Diana Beisner of Cozad purchased the equipment and “formulas”. They are also currently owners of The Feed Store, Inc. in Cozad.
